Violence Against Women and Girls

Local women’s safety organisation #TogetherAsAllies and I have invited over 150 local businesses to offer shelter to women and girls who are feeling unsafe in Tunbridge Wells. If it’s getting dark, your phone’s out of charge or you’re feeling uneasy, businesses with a Safe Havens sign in their window will be able to help you.

I pressured the Government to enact the Protection from Sex-Based Harassment in Public Act 2023. I forced a vote in the Commons on its implementation, and worked with the team in the Lords to do the same. As a result, from April 2026, it is a criminal offence to harass women in public.
