The centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells has struggled for some time. I hear the same concern from people right across the constituency - they want a rejuvenated town centre, of which they once again be proud. I am working closely with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to attract more busineses and rivitalise our high street.

I'm working with Tunbridge Wells Borough Council to redevelop Royal Victoria Place with new purpose built retail, hospitality and leisure units and town centre living. Businesses, like Primark and Nando's, are already moving in and providing new jobs. Footfall is up by 500,000 shoppers year-on-year.

I've brought together a group of hospitality industry leaders in Tunbridge Wells to lobby the Government to change how our bricks and mortar businesses are taxed. Our town centre businesses in Tunbridge Wells are suffering from a broken business rates system which prevents investment, growth, and long-term sustainability. I regularly speak in Parliament on town centre issues: retail, hospitality and leisure.

I'm proud to support the new £73 million retirement development being built in Tunbridge Wells. This means more people living in our town centre, which will act as an anchor for businesses and services and will drive economic growth - this has already started to happen with new businesses moving into that part of town.
